UA 488 tradespeople interested in working for Lodge 146
For tradespeople from UA 488 interested in working for Local Lodge 146 under the National Maintenance Agreement please note the following:
- A Reciprocal Agreement for Health and Welfare benefits has been in place between 488 and 146 for 29 years. This agreement directs employers to remit $3.25 an hour to the IBB fund. The IBB Health and Welfare Plan remits $ 3.25 to the other Plan on behalf of the worker. The Boilermakers under the NMA also get Overtime benefits for Overtime pay.
- The Reciprocal Agreement for Pension contributions between the UA 488 and the Lodge 146 was terminated by the UA in 2010. The Boilermakers Pension Plan is registered in the Province of Alberta. In 2017 The Actuarial Funded Ratio was 102 %. With no reciprocal agreement 63.1% of the Pension contribution of $6.00 per hour ($3.79) is sent to an account in that workers name and funds can be withdrawn after 30 days of no contributions.
- All benefits paid when working under the National Maintenance Agreement for the Boilermakers are on hours earned, not worked like many other trades. All Health and Welfare Contributions paid at $3.25 per hour, not $2.04 per hour will be remitted to the appropriate plan and 63 % of Pension contributions will be paid.Thank you for your interest,
Hugh MacDonald
