Apprentice Funding Options

$4,000

The Canadian Apprentice Loan is an initiative of the Government of Canada to help complete your apprenticeship in a designated Red Seal trade. You can apply for up to $4,000 in interest-free loans per period of technical training. The money will be available to you to help with tuition, equipment, and living expenses, to cover forgone wages and to help support your family.

When to apply – Once you are enrolled in technical training.

$2,000

The Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (AIG) is a taxable cash grant of $1000 per year, to a maximum of $2,000. This Grant helps registered apprentices get started in designated Red Seal trades.

When to apply – When you receive your marks for 1st and 2nd period.

The Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Scholarship Program provides more than 370 annual scholarships of $1,000 each. These scholarships recognize the excellence of Alberta apprentices in a trade.

The Apprenticeship Completion Grant (ACG) is a taxable cash grant of $2,000. This Grant helps registered apprentices who have completed their training to become certified journeypersons in designated Red Seal trades.

When to apply – When you receive your journeyman certificate.

Candidates who are enrolled in 1st period apprenticeship welding or pre-employment welding may be eligible for the CWB Joseph G. Doria Exemplary Student National Award. One recipient will be chosen annually and will be awarded the amount of $3,000.

When to apply – application must be within 2 months of enrollment into the 1st Period welding program.
