Filling the Gap – National Pressure Welder Program (Edmonton and Calgary)
Event Description
National Training Trust Fund (NTTF) and Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) have teamed up to provide an opportunity for 146 Welders to upgrade their welding skills during the off season. This tuition free, eight (8) week course, provides Journeymen Welders and Apprentice Welders training and testing for their CWB SMAW & FCAW certifications, C/B Pressure certification through Alberta Boiler Safety Association (ABSA) and additional performance qualifications.
There is no cost to the welders for this course and are eligible to collect a living allowance if they are not receiving Employment Insurance (EI). There is also compensation for travel/lunch and if that welder has a child or children in daycare, there is compensation for eight (8) weeks of daycare costs.
All PPE is provided for the course with the exception of CSA Steel Toe Boots.
Apprentices who complete the course will receive hour accreditation towards their apprenticeship.
Any welders who take the course will be eligible to receive industry required safety certifications including ESC Fall Protection, ESC Confined Space, 3M Quantitative Fit Testing, etc.
Prerequisites:
- 146 Member & APA’s
- Journeymen or Apprentice Welder (2nd Year, 3rd Year)
- Maximum ten (10) members per course
